This page provides detailed instructions on how to install and access Rapla on your computer.

Assumptions

Note

You will require access to a site specific URL to download a copy of the the Rapla application launcher. This URL may be obtained from your nominated contact person or by raising a request for support via the help desk portal.

  • You have already read the Introduction to Rapla article

  • You have downloaded the Java run-time installer to your computer

  • You have a valid Rapla user account

Workflow 

 1. Installing the Java run-time

Note

Following the instructions below will require you to have admin access on your computer to install software.

Rapla is supported by the Java Runtime environment. Please browse and download the latest version of Java to suit your version of the operating system. Please refer to https://www.java.com/en/download/ for further instructions. Consult your local IT representative if you encounter any issues during the installation process.

 2. Accessing Rapla for the first time

After you enter the URL in your web browser, the below web page will appear: 

  • The first button [Start Rapla with Java webstart] will initiate a download of your Rapla.

  • The second button [Start Rapla with Java Plugin] is not useful any more as standard modern web browsers whether don’t support Java browser plugin by default or refuse to support it at all.

  • The third [Server Status] button allows you to check if the server is running correctly.

  • The fourth [Exported Calendars] is very useful. It lists all the published web calendars configured under your username.

  1. Click on the first button, there will be pop up message on the left bottom.

  2. Click on Keep button will initiate to download your Rapla.

  3. Wait until your Rapla finishes download, and click on the JNLP file.

  4. Once you completed the above steps, it will initiate Rapla login window to pop up:

  5. Enter your Username and Password and click on Login button.

 3. How to resolve Java Security levels Configuration

If you receive any Application Error message, you might need to add a specific URL to the security exception site list in your Java settings.

Follow the instructions from this link: https://java.com/en/download/help/jcp_security.xml.

Note the address you should add is http not https.
