Unit Competency Edit

Overview

The Unit Competency Edit menu in Paradigm will give you the option to add a unit competency code to your scheduled units for government reporting purposes. This knowledge article will provide a workflow on how you can add and change competencies for scheduled units.

Competency Name

The unique name given to nationally accredited training packages or units of Competency

Field of Education

A 6 digit code which uniquely identifies the discipline to which a unit of study is classified by the Higher Education Provider/VET provider. These are taken from the HEIMS help website Appendix E (Please note: Any leading zeros are required for a complete code)

Workflow

 

how to Add a Competency Code to Scheduled Units for AVETMISS Reporting


NOTE: If the scheduled unit is already loaded, proceed to step 2 Add the competency code.” instruction.

 

step 1 Load the scheduled unit details.


1, 2, 3 Choose Units > Unit Details > Show Scheduled Units menus on the side.

4 Enter any combination of Unit Code, Unit Name, Unit Provider, Start Date, End Date. Paradigm requires at least one search criteria.

5 Click the SEARCH SCHEDULED UNIT button.

 

 

6 After clicking the SEARCH SCHEDULED UNIT button, it will return a list of units that meet your searched criteria.

7 You have the option to filter the returned list more by typing a keyword or the name of the unit in the Filter Box. This will reduce the result to match your filter keyword.

 

 

8 Click the scheduled unit number hyperlink on the first column of the table list to load the details of the scheduled unit that you want to load.

 

 

 

step 2 Add the competency code.


1, 2 Choose Units > Unit Details > Unit Competency Edit menus on the side.

3 Enter any combination of Competency Id, Competency Name, Field of Education code (Paradigm requires at least one search criteria.)

4 Click the SEARCH UNIT button. This will return a list of all the competency codes that matched your searched criteria.

 

 

NOTE: If you can’t find the competency code in the system, you have the option to add it by clicking the ADD COMPETENCY button, just below the search button. Refer to the table above under the Key Terms and Concepts section for a description of each field, or refer to this government website for the list of codes: https://heimshelp.dese.gov.au/resources/field-of-education-types

 

5 Click the hyperlink of the competency record that you want to add, and change the details as required.

6 Click the SAVE UNIT button to add the competency code to the scheduled unit.
