It is recommended to use table for convenience when it is appropriate.The Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act) is an Australian law which regulates the handling  of personal information about individuals (in this case students). This act sets out standards, right and obligations for the handling, holding, use and accessing and correction of personal information (including sensitive information). Private Tertiary Education providers specifically named as being under this act. 

Section 17 of the Privacy Act addresses Tax File Numbers - Tax File Numbers (TFN's) are to be restricted in access to only those individuals who require direct access to them and must be stored in an ENCRYPTED format.

This Report will allow high end or power users to access TFN's in a human readable format to access and missing numbers or numbers that do not meet the ATO's format.

Exporting the data from this page and storing them in ANY way breaches the Privacy Act. Do not copy them and store them.

Objective

Upon Completion of this KB the user will be able to view, and assess missing TFN's and CHESSN's

  • The User has access to Paradigm.
  • The User has the minimum required level to access the system tab
  • The user has an understanding of the Australian Tertiary Education System
  • Be one of the approved institution officers to view and handle TFN's

1 Retrieving a TFN and CHESSN List

1.1 Click on the System option in the side menu

1.2 Click on the View Tax File Number option in the side menu

1.3 The report will now load. 

1.4 From here the user will be able to review the enrolment status of the students listed

1.5 View if the student has provided a TFN

1.6 If the TFN has passed the TFN checking algorithm within the system and is valid (passed) or not (failed )

1.7 If the Student has a CHESSN
