Objective
Reading this article will give you an understanding of how to find and change Side Menu settings under each Tab that can be seen in the main side menu of the Paradigm system.

- You have the level of access required to access the system tab.
- You have an understanding that making changes within this function can have system wide implications.
- You have an understanding of the various permission levels within your institution and the access levels that staff need in order to complete their duties.
- You have an understanding of the Australian Tertiary Education System / VET Sector.

Implications
Editing data in any of these options has implications across the entire system and across various security levels.
Please ensure that all of the implications of any changes or updates are carefully assessed before making those changes.
The Side Menu options make up each sub-menu within each Tab of the Paradigm System.
The System Tab and Side Menu Editing options are normally reserved for people with the highest level of system access, because changes made here have a system wide impact on the functions available from the side menu.
If a Tab or a Side Menu option is set as hidden for particular security level, all of the pages and side menu options within that tab or side menu option are also hidden for all users who have that security level.
Workflow
How to Search for Side Menu options
- Click on the System tab within the side menu
- Click on the Side Menu Edit option with in the side menu
- Select the Permission level to be edited (See list above)
- Click on the Search Side Menu button.
- This will return a list of all Side Menu options that meet the searched criteria
- To filter the options shown in the list, use the search box above the results list, to start typing the name of the required tab.
- Click on the blue hyperlink on the left side of the required record, or click the edit icon at the right side of the required record
How to Edit Side Menu options
- Follow the steps in the How to Search for Side Menu options section described above.
- Update the fields to be edited (Please note: only Label, Alt Text, Order No and Visibility can be edited)
- Click on the Save Side Menu button.
- The changes will be immediately visible by reloading or refreshing the browser page.
