Overview
Managing Paradigm is one of the most important responsibilities any user of the system would need to be aware of. Depending on your access or permission level, you have the option to make some changes to the system when necessary. By the end of this training session, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills essential in for doing some system maintenance in the future.
Learning outcomes
Describe and discuss all the possible editable fields in Paradigm as an administrator or other type of users with no administrator permission level, and manage to assess the larger implications in of making the changes.
Demonstrate how to add time periods, and grade types in Paradigm.
Manage to add, edit, and delete code items, status items, form labels, and form fields in Paradigm, most importantly justify why and when the changes to be made are necessary.
Experiment with editing the side menus in Paradigm, when and how the menus are required to be visible or hidden to a group/s of users.

Code Items are the values displayed in a drop-down menu you see in Paradigm User Interface – fields which that would require you to choose from the list.
This section will give you an in-depth description of what a code type and code items are, how these two function in Paradigm, their relationship to other records, and the implications when code items are added or changed. At the end of this section, we will have an interactive demonstration on of some of the code items that you can edit in Paradigm, and at the same time, giving give you the opportunity to try and do it yourself: search, add, edit, and hide code items.

Status Items are the statuses displayed in a the drop-down status menus you see in Paradigm User Interface (e.g. Enrolment and Student/Person Record Statuses). These are categorised into types that reflect the full set of possible states a status field has been defined and assigned.
This section will give you an in-depth description of what a status type and status items are, how these two function in Paradigm, their relationship to other records, and the implications when status items are added or changed. At the end of this section, we will have an interactive demonstration on some of the status items that you can edit in Paradigm, and at the same time, giving give you the opportunity to try and do it yourself: search, add, edit, and hide status items.

Paradigm supports the use of concurrent grading systems to give providers flexibility on how academic outcomes are awarded to course enrolments, unit enrolments, and assessments.
This section will provide details to on all the terms and concepts related to grade schema (grade types, fields, GPA, WAM, grades and enrolment status code, multiple grade schema, percentages, and grades), when and why you need to update a grade type and its implications to all your other records in Paradigm. At the end of this session, there will be an interactive demonstration on how to search, add, and edit an existing grade type which is open for live questions and discussions.

This section will discuss all the time periods you need to create and maintain in Paradigm relevant to the type of offerings you have in your business or institution , and provide in-depth descriptions of all the time periods available in the system that would meet your requirements. We will also advise you accordingly to all the implications involved in maintaining time periods. At the end of this session, you will be confident enough to add a new academic year, term, census date, and edit configuration periods in Paradigm.

7. Menus Edit

Paradigm side menus are designed for all types of users of the system. However, you have the option to customise your menus depending on your permission level, and ease of access to menus by showing only menus you are using often.
This section will equip you with all the right reasons why and when you should edit the menus in Paradigm. At the end of this section, you will be given an opportunity to experiment with menus menu editing: setting their visibility to the right users.
