Objective

Upon completion of this KB article you will be able to Create/Add and Edit sessions and enrol Students into those sessions

  • You know how to create a base unit

  • A base unit record must have been saved before you can save the details that are required for a scheduled unit record to be created in Paradigm

Minimum number required to make this class  / group viable, set by the Institution

The maximum participants allowable for this class / group, set by the institution. This could be due room size, the type of class requires practicum / lab space / rehearsal space, number of seats etc

Which institution  / College will be running this session / class / group

Workflow

 1. How to Add Session(s) To a Scheduled Unit

If a Unit has already been scheduled, load the required Scheduled Unit and skip to step 10

  1. Click on the Units tab in the side menu

  2. Click on the Search option in the side menu

  3. Search for the base unit by either Unit Code or Unit Name. Unit provider can be selected to reduce the list of options

  4. Click on the Search Unit button

  5. If more than one unit meets the search criteria a list of units will appear on the screen.  Click on the blue hyperlink on the left hand side of the required unit

  6. Once the required unit has been loaded click on the Scheduled Unit Details in the side menu

  7. Click on the Add Scheduled in the side menu

  8. Enter the required information in to the fields ensuring that the minimum required fields have been set (Start Date, End Date and HEIMS Census Date and Status set to Active). Additional information is recommended, however these mentioned fields are required to create a basic functioning Scheduled Unit record

  9. Click on the Save Scheduled Unit button

  10. Scroll down to the Sessions associated with this unit section and click the New Session button

  11. Enter the type of session, Session Class and Session Group (without exceeding 11 characters)

  12. Enter the session subject - ie. the topic to be covered in this session

  13. Enter location, building and room information

  14. Select the Teacher from the contact drop down box

  15. Select the day of the week from the drop down box

  16. Select the start date from the date picker

  17. Enter the class commencement time

  18. Enter the class conclusion time

  19. Enter note. This can be a summary of what is to be covered in this particular session

  20. Enter the minimum number of students required to proceed with this session

  21. Enter the maximum number of students allowable in the session e.g. how many can the room hold allowing for fire evacuation guidelines, for how many does the lecture theatre hold

  22. Select the session provider, important if there is more than one

  23. Enter how often the session should reoccur (daily, weekly etc) and for how many times

  24. Click on the Save Session button

 2. How to Delete Sessions
  1. Click On the Units tab in the side menu.

  2. Click on the Search Scheduled Units option in the side menu

  3. Enter any combination of Unit Code, Unit Name, Unit Provider, Start Date, End Date (Paradigm requires at least one search criteria)

  4. Click on the Search Scheduled Unit Button

  5. This will return a list of units that meet the searched criteria

  6. To filter the returned options start typing the name of the unit into the search box. The list of returned results will reduce to match the criteria

  7. Click on the blue hyper link on the left side of the required record

  8. The Scheduled Unit has now been loaded

  9. Scroll Down to the Sessions associated with this unit section

  10. Click on the Deleted All Sessions button
