Overview

A course is a term used interchangeably with a program that describes the awards, non-awards, programs or courses offered by a provider. It will serve as the blueprint for your scheduled course and unit enrolments. This page will provide you with a brief overview of each sub-menu and the links to all the associated knowledge articles under the Courses Menu.

BE ADVISED:

The Courses Menu is normally reserved for users who have high level permission, or are power users. Any changes made here can have system-wide implications. Editing data in any of these options has implications across the entire system and at various if not all security levels. Please ensure that any changes or updates are carefully thought through, and all of the potential implications are assessed prior to any action being taken.

Courses Sub-Menus Brief Overview

 

NOTE:

The pages, fields and buttons that you can see, and the items you can edit under the Courses Menu in Paradigm, are based on:

  • How Paradigm is configured for your institution;

  • The options that are made available by your institution; and

  • The access level assigned to you by the "nominated contact person" or other Paradigm Expert, according to your permission needs.

Search

From here a search can be conducted for Courses that currently exist in the system. These courses can be either Current (Active), Retired (Archived), or Pending Commencement (Pending).

Add New

Courses can be added to the System from this section. Once created, students can be enrolled in the course when its status is Active.

Edit Details

Details specific to the course can be edited or updated here.

Outline

The course outline contains the rules that define the Course Plan. Units can be added or removed as well as rules around unit/subject teaching scope (Prerequisites, Co-requisites, Disallowed Units, Core Units and Electives).


Course Offers

This sub-menu will help you add a new course offering or scheduled program, and it will also allow you to manage existing ones – e.g. searching and editing courses that are being offered already.

Search Course Offer

Allows you to search Scheduled Programs or Courses your business or institution has offered.

Add New Course Offer

Allows you to add new Scheduled Programs or Course Offers

Edit Course Offer

Allows you to edit the fields you have previously set when you add the Scheduled Program/Offer. Note that the changes you will make will NOT be reflected on any of the ALREADY-created course enrolments. The changes you made will only reflect to the new course enrolment records created after you save your changes.


Program HEIMS Edit

This sub-menu will let you edit and review the fields and information of your courses that will make them compliant with government reporting.
