Student - Search Course

Overview

The Student Search Course menu in Paradigm will produce a list of all students who are enrolled in a specific course and have a specific enrolment status and add the list into a bulk list. There are also wide search criteria about your student enrolment that you can use when searching for course enrolments. This knowledge article will provide instructions on how you can search for students by course – with all the featured search criteria, and how you can add a list of search results (students) to a bulk list.

Brief Description: Bulk List

A list of one or more student-related records that a user has intentionally identified and added to a temporary or virtual list for the purposes of performing some kind of bulk action such as the sending of a communication event, bulk enrolling into a course/unit, or bulk updating one or more fields on the course or unit enrolment record.

Course Name

The name of the course that the students are enrolled in.

Enrolment Status

The current status of the students' enrolment in the chosen course. The options available in the drop box are chosen by the institution. Examples may include Applied, Enrolled, Completed, Deferred, and Leave of Absence.

Home Institution

The college, campus or institution where the student is primarily enrolled and undertaking studies.

Funding Type

The type of funding type that the student is using to pay for the course. Examples may include Fee-HELP, HECS-HELP, Upfront, Scholarship.

Start Date

The date that the student began or is expected to begin, studying units that are part of this course.

End Date

The date that the student is expected to complete studying all units that are part of this course.

Contact Mode

How the student is completing this course. The options are chosen by your institution and may include Attending, Online, and Distance.

Contact Hours

How the student is in contact with the home institution, indicating studies on a full time, part time, or unknown basis.

Order By

The field name to use, to sort how the results are listed

Implications

INFO:

This screen may be used as an easy way to build a bulk list of students for use in one of the bulk edit screens. A more targeted means of generating a bulk list would be to use Report Builder.

Workflow

 

1. How to search for Students by Course


 

1, 2 Choose the Student menu > Search Course.

 

NOTE:

A description for each of the field mentioned in Steps 3 and 4 can be found in the above section: search criteria COURSE ENROLMENT SEARCH.

 

3 A COURSE ENROLMENT SEARCH Form will appear on the right after Search Course. To create a list of students, you must choose one of the available options in both of these drop boxes: “Course Name:”, and “Enrolment Status:”.

 

4 Choose or type values for any of the following, to filter the results shown in the list: “Home Institution:”, “Funding Type:”, “Start Date:”, “End Date:”, “Contact Mode:”, “Contact Hours:”, “Order By:”, “Agent:

 

INFO:

You can choose from the available options in the “Order By:” drop box, to sort the listed results.

 

5 Click the SEARCH COURSE ENROLMENTS button after setting up your filters.

2. How to add a List of Students to a Bulk List


 

Step 1 Follow the same instructions as above “A. Search for Students by Course” section in searching and returning a list of course enrolments.

 

Step 2 Once you’ve generated your list, follow the instructions below on how to add a list of search results (students) to a bulk list:


1 Click the checkbox associated to the far right side of one or more of the search results (students). Alternatively, all results (students) may be selected via the checkbox located in the search results table header row.

 

2 Scroll to the bottom of the search results section and click the ADD ENROLMENTS TO LIST button.
