Bulk Student Select

Overview

Bulk processes in Paradigm which require a list of (a specific) group of individuals, e.g. students can be very time-consuming if done manually. Report Builder is addressing this gap (to speed up the process) by letting you select a predefined group of recipients or creating a new one – adding your own filters/conditions to the bulk list. This knowledge article will guide you on how to create a bulk list of students using the Report Builder menu.

The Bulk Student Select option can be used or applied to any other bulk activities you do in Paradigm. Examples are on communication events, bulk enrolment to units, bulk course edit, and bulk generate invoice.

Workflow

1, 2 Choose Reports > Report Builder menus on the side.

Refer to Step 1 - Select a Base Report workflow for more details on selecting a base report.

3 Scroll to the SAVED REPORT DESCRIPTIONS section. Click on the Global Reports drop box and select a suitable report that your institution has set up to generate a bulk student list if one has already been set up. Click on the Load Report button and proceed to step number 6 below.

4 If a suitable report has not yet been set up, in the BASE REPORT DESCRIPTIONS section, select the ‘Student Course Enrolment Details’ (or any of the Base Reports which are related to the bulk student list that you want to generate) as the Base report and click the LOAD BASE REPORT button.

5 In the REPORT COLUMNS section, select the columns as required, ensuring that the key fields are included for the type of report that you are trying to generate.

[OPTIONAL / AS REQUIRED] Follow the rest of the steps under the Introduction to Report Builder section if you want to add more filters/conditions.

After creating your report [with all the columns/fields required, conditions/filters applied], you have the option to save your report for future reference.

6 Ensure that the BASE REPORT PARAMETERS are correctly set to cover the required unit enrolment start and end dates and enrolment status values to produce a list that contains the required students.

7 Scroll down to the FORMAT REPORT section. Click the Bulk Student Select radio button, and click PRODUCE REPORT.

8 This will take some time to run, and will depend on the scope of the list created. Please wait for the screen to refresh and reload with a list of the students returned by the report.

9 Once the bulk list of students appears, click on the check box for each student whom you want to include in the bulk list. You may choose to select all and then deselect specific students from the list, or you may choose to select only specific students from the list, and click the ADD SELECTED TO LIST button. This may take a few moments to store the list in memory. Please wait for the list to appear.
