TCSI Error Code - 10364

Attempt to report a Unit of Study Commencement Date (E600) for a Unit of Study Code (E354) in which the Student (UID8) already has a concurrent unit enrolment record.

TCSI Error Description

Please check the unit enrolment records that the Student (UID8) has for the Unit of Study Code (E354), and the Unit of Study Commencement Dates (E600) and Unit of Study Outcome Dates (E601) for each record. It is not possible to report a Unit of Study Commencement Date (E600) for a unit of study in which the student has a concurrent enrolment.

Error Logic

If there are multiple active Unit Enrolment records (UID16) with the same Student Resource Key (UID8)/ Unit of Study Code (E354) combination and Unit of Study Commencement Date (E600) is not null (blank) and Unit of Study Outcome Date (E601) is not null (blank) then, for those active Unit Enrolment records, the Unit of Study Commencement Date (E600) must not be within the range of the Unit of Study Commencement Date (E600) and Unit of Study Outcome Date (E601) of the other Unit Enrolment records.

Paradigm Error Resolution

This error occurs when the student has more than one unit enrolment that shares the same combination of unit code + start date + census date.

The most likely cause is when the student has undertaken an internal course transfer, withdrawing from a scheduled unit under one course, but then enrolling into the same scheduled unit in another course. Given that this activity likely happens in advance of the census date, the best solution is to delete the original unit enrolment from Paradigm, prior to processing the new unit enrolment. The act of deleting the original unit enrolment within Paradigm will cause that record (specifically that UID16) to be reported as deleted via TCSI.

The delete action may be processed in one of two ways:

  1. Outright deleting (removing) the original unit enrolment from Paradigm by clicking the “Delete unit enrolment” button; OR

  2. Flagging the record as deleted within TCSI by clicking the “Delete from TCSI” button. This action will retain the record within Paradigm, while also flagging the record as read-only. This second step ensures that the record cannot be accidentally resubmitted back to TCSI.

Transfer credits

Another scenario where this error may occur is when a student is transferring internally between courses and is receiving study credit from one course towards the second course. This will only be an issue where the unit enrolment in the second course was assigned a unit enrolment status that is linked to an element 355 value. Using the bulk transfer credit function found on the screen: STUDENT > Course Enrolment > Units will avoid this issue entirely. Refer to the workflow regarding the action: “Transfer Credit to the selected units to the degree”.

To resolve the validation error, the preferred remedy is to trigger a “Delete from TCSI” against the unit enrolment in the second course.
